This free conference offered opportunities for practitioners, managers and policy makers to hear about research and practice guidance developed by members of the social work team at the Department of Sociological Studies, University of Sheffield. It was originally conceived as one of the series of events to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the Department of Sociological Studies in 2014 and was organised by Dr. Harrie Churchill, Bev Jowett and Robin Sen at the Department.

The Department runs a range of courses for practitioners including the MA in Social Work for those wanting to qualify as social workers and the MA in Integrated Practice with Children and their Families for professionally qualified students looking to extend their knowledge.

Funding towards the conference was kindly provided by the Research Exchange for the Social Sciences at the Centre for the Study of Childhood and Youth at the University of Sheffield.
